I am inspire to learn more about teaching tools to better equip my high school students, especially in math classes. For many of my students, reading, art and history are subjects easier to comprehend than mathematics and/or science. The students find math particularly challenging because it is not relevant or of minimal interest to them. I have introduced Google Classroom as an alternative approach to learning math. I am inspired by Alice Keeler to make my math lessons more engaging and technology based with the help of her tutorials. At this point in the semester, I probably know 5 things to do in Google Classroom, my goal is to start using Google forms to collect quick data and give better feedback.

I love using google forms for all kinds of things. I have been trying to use Flipgrid and screencast with my math tutorial kids. It give them an opportunity to articulate what they are doing in a problem. It also builds a video library of examples of how to do the problem in both English and Spanish. I have found flipgrid the easiest to use.

In the past I set up Google Classroom, used it a few times, and then never used it again. This semester I made it my goal to try and use it everyday. I have found that my students are really engaged when I change it up.

You cannot go wrong if attempting to give students better and more timely feedback. That said, consider feed forward where students use the information/commentary you provide to refine their work - this supports the idea of continued learning regardless of how good or bad the work is.
